Exodus 20:2 You shall have no other Gods before me

There is currently a lot of speculation concerning the “church” we have built up in our minds and hearts in America. First and foremost we have witnessed over and over again what happens when the church loses its focus on the God who brought it into being in the first place.
We have often created “other gods” out of form, “right” doctrine, political viewpoint, and perhaps worst of all money and many other created things. When we fall down in worship of these things we are breaking God’s first commandment. Administratively we have placed the worship of God somewhere far down the list of imperatives falling in line behind all of these other concerns. When we do this we cut the very heart out of the worship community.
We have no voice in this lost secular world when all they see and ever talk about is the idol worship within the church itself. The lie, the untruth grows in the telling like the very worst kind of gossip. In reality this is just Satan blowing smoke. Remember what Paul wrote to the Corinthian church; “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers…” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Truly, a storm is coming. Jesus will build His church. The gates of hell shall not prevail. It may not look like what we are seeing now. It could be something totally different. Viral lockdowns notwithstanding we could be entering the “golden age” of the church.
