1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

It’s a scary world. But just for a moment, think if you will about all of the things we have created and employed to “be safe”. Most of the measures we undertake in the day to day have to do with making our “safety” automated and us less vigilant. Smoke alarms, locks of every kind imaginable, security devices such as cameras and motion detectors all are intended to put us at ease in this scary world,

No matter how much safety you build into your life every day is a risk. There are always evil people inspired by their sin, lust and indifference to rob you, hurt you, and even take your life.

When I traveled for business I carried a gun every day. I found after too many close calls that I was headed down the road that would make it easier and easier to deploy that weapon rather than trusting God to carry me though every situation. I came to a place eventually where I stopped enjoying the finer aspects of the shooting life. The main benefit I gained was a way through prayer to come to rely on the Holy Spirit to lead me through and if need be away from dangerous situations. Not fool proof. (The emphasis is on the fool, not the prayer). There will always be danger and trouble in this life. How and why trouble comes is all in God’s hands and our own willingness to be in tune with His cautions and warnings. Seeking His wisdom in all things let Him guide you.
