Isaiah 7:14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Strip away all of the “artful” baggage surrounding this marvelous event of scripture and we can begin to see the plan of God working from of old to bring about his salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. In our headlong rush to portray the perfect spirit of Mary we have rendered in the only way possible through visual representation that we have lost the true humility of this young and no doubt apprehensive young woman.
Mary was a product of her culture, but she was truly a child of God and reflected in her acquiescence the same spirit that Jesus would employ when He said to the Father, “…nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)
As we approach this Christmas season with all of the not so “artful” baggage my prayer is to seek His holiness and to allow His spirit to inhabit mine and to become more and more his true child. In these times of fear and confusion we really need to be on our knees before the throne seeking for understanding of the days in which we live and how God will use them to bring about His victories in each one of us. Let us endeavor to become as the men from the tribe of Issachar who32 … understood the times and knew what Israel should do.” 1 Chronicles 12:32)
