Psalm 143: 8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.

Had to read this gem from Psalm 143 this morning. Seems like there is something new every day that would dismay, disrupt, discombobulate and in general try to stop you in your tracks. Then, I am reminded, God’s got this. Remember that silly old Sunday School song. He’s got the whole world in his hands.
Fifty years ago futurist Alvin Toffler published a chilling book called Future Shock. (Random House 1970) The book spoke of the accelerated rate of cultural change that was coming. Fifty years later, the changes are still happening at a rate that is dizzying for most of us. When I begin to feel dismayed by the myriad of changes going on all around me I step off the track for a while and bask in the love and glory of God present, real, powerful, and unchanging.
How reassuring that in the times of greatest upheaval, political, social, economic, and spiritual we have as our guide and friend, our Savior and Redeemer the very one who made the heavens and the earth. How blessed could a person be?
